Licensed to practice law in Arizona and Colorado, our law firm focuses on defamation of character (libel and slander), invasion of privacy, and business torts cases. We primarily serve Arizona and Colorado individuals and small businesses.
Your reputation and privacy are some of the most valuable assets you possess. Unfortunately, these assets are harder to protect in today’s internet-based society. In the past, someone could move and start fresh after being badly defamed around town. Starting fresh is hard to do these days. It is also expensive.
HopkinsWay PLLC confronts people who intentionally or negligently damage your reputation or invade your privacy, and we seek compensation for our clients that reflects the true cost of this damage. The financial and psychological costs of destructive statements or privacy-invading actions are simply too high for most of our clients to ignore. You deserve to keep your good name, and you deserve your privacy.
The Power of A Good Reputation
Businesses and individuals survive in large part on their reputations. For businesses, it can take years to develop a following. For individuals, reputations are the work of a lifetime, sometimes the works of generations. Unfortunately, all of this hard work can be damaged almost instantaneously, and sometimes irreparably.
The Internet and constant connectivity allows false or misleading information to spread like wildfire. The damage does not even require malicious intent – often simple negligence is enough. In addition, the damage is no longer limited to the distribution of a local newspaper or a national magazine – it is global.
HopkinsWay PLLC understands how much your financial integrity relies on reputation, and we work to ensure that those who would dare to tarnish it are taken to task. We use a variety of legal tools to help our clients fight back.
Your Right to Privacy
The ease with which information is spread makes matters of privacy all the more important today. You should not have to worry about unsolicited photographs, or unauthorized audio or video recordings of you going public. If people lawfully gain access to your private medical records or your private bank account information, they should be held accountable for the harm they cause. People who trespass onto your private property or steal your identity may be held accountable civil courts.
The internet makes sharing illegally obtained information disturbingly easy, and there is a good chance that once it is stolen, it will spread quickly. The costs of recovering from such a breach in privacy can be significant. This makes legal recourse one of the only options for recovering enough in damages to fairly compensate some of our clients.
Conducting Business in Good Faith
Our firm also handles business torts, including fraud, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty. Business interactions should be conducted fairly, honestly, and in good faith. We help our clients when the people or corporations they do business with forget or ignore these fundamental principles.
Protect What Is Yours
If an person or business has compromised your reputation or privacy, you need to take quick and decisive action. The statute of limitations for defamation claims is one year in Arizona and Colorado. The statute of limitations for invasion of privacy claims is two years. Our firm focuses on defamation (libel and slander) and invasion of privacy litigation. We serve clients throughout Arizona and Colorado. Call our office today to see how we can help you.
